Corporate Wellness Through An Almost Balanced Life
Does
this sound like you? Stressed, depleted, bored, loss of career
interest. You’re not alone. Twenty-six percent of
workers say they are often burned out or stressed by their work.
So what’s the cure, Coach?
The answer revolves around five areas of wellness to lead an almost
balanced life. We say “almost” because everyday our life tips
the scales in different directions. In my opinion, we will
never lead a completely balance life but we can learn how to
minimize the “tipping action” from one extreme to the other.
Our five areas of concentration are physical, emotional,
intellectual, social, and occupational. When we achieve some
level of activity daily or weekly in each of these areas we can
begin to see an increase in both the quality of our relationships,
life style, focus, vision, solutions and results.
Each of these areas has specific needs that can be addressed to
achieve maximum results. For example, physical requires us to
do just that…to get physical with exercise on a regular basis (30
minutes daily), watch our intake of food and its nutritional value
and limit alcohol. In addition, properly addressing medical
issues in a timely manner to prevent or reduce the risk of illness.
Another area is your emotional well being. Have you
identified your main stressors and ways to combat these enemies in
your life? Are little things draining you of your time and
making you hard to work or be with? When you develop a
plan to daily deal with your stress level the better prepared you
will become to handle the “big issues” in life when they arise…and
they will.
When we begin to breakdown each of these areas to personally fit
your lifestyle, we develop a plan that specifically meets the needs
of your life. This takes on a form of its own as positive
control factors tip the scale in your favor.
